The work is hard and physical, and suits people who like to be outdoors and who like to travel. Hence it is not for each and everyone!! You must do a careful analysis about yourself and your suitability to adapt to the challenging situations that may come across your days ahead!! We would suggest you to walk in for counseling and explore your interests and undergo a psychometric test, as well medical fitness test to assure you are fit for choosing a sea career.

Ratings
Integrated ratings are the general crew on a ship that is not specifically allocated to engine or deck duties. It is a skilled occupation with responsibility for both the cargo and engine areas, and requires international certification. The work includes assisting with cargo operations, conducting engine and navigational watches, assisting with berthing and unearthing operations, and undertake general servicing and maintenance of the ship and its machinery. In India we have DG shipping approved course called GP Rating – runs six months academic study including basic safety BST – as per STCW regulations and a combination of another nine months sea time in any foreign going vessel will qualify the student to earn their Watch Keeping le licence as they choose to remain on Deck duties or Engine duties. A Watch Keeping Licence will be awarded to them either as Navigation Rating or Engine Room rating as they prefer during their training period on board. |
